Who is Adam Yauch?

Adam Yauch: Adam Nathaniel Yauch was an American rapper, musician, film director, and human rights activist. He was best known as a founding member of the hip hop group Beastie Boys. He was frequently known by his stage name, MCA, and sometimes worked under the pseudonym Nathanial Hörnblowér.

Beastie Boys started as a New York hardcore band with founding members Adam Yauch, bass; John Berry, guitar; Kate Schellenbach, drums, and Michael Diamond, vocals. By 1984 the band had moved into the burgeoning hip-hop culture: Berry and Schellenbach departed and Adam Horowitz joined. The new lineup featured each member on vocals with Horowitz eventually taking up guitar and Diamond moving to the drums.
