Aes a.k.a. Ålesund Airport, Vigra is an airport which serves the town of Ålesund in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway and the surrounding regions of Sunnmøre, Nordfjord and Romsdal. The airport is located on the island of Vigra in Giske Municipality, about 12 kilometres northeast of the town of Ålesund and easily accessible through the undersea Ellingsøy Tunnel and Valderøy Tunnel. The airport passed 1,000,000 yearly passengers in 2013 and is experiencing a strong growth in international flights, as the only airport with scheduled international flights and dedicated international terminal areas between Bergen and Trondheim. As a result, it is operating at almost full capacity and is due to be upgraded. It is also one of only seven Norwegian public airports to post a profit, which is used to subsidise less viable airports.
