The cabbage whitefly (Aleyrodes proletella) is another whitefly pest species. Since whiteflies quickly develop resistance to chemical pesticides, IPM strategies are more effective. Clothianidin, thiamethoxam, dinotefuran and imidacloprid are some of the chemical compounds deemed necessary to control severe infestations of whiteflies. To manage resistance, chemical rotation with insecticides of different classes is alternated with cultural practices and the use of biological methods.
