The Alpine race is a historical race concept defined by some late 19th-century and early 20th-century anthropologists as one of the three sub-races of the Caucasian race, the other two being Nordic and Mediterranean. The Alpine race was identified as descending from the Celts residing in central Europe in Neolithic times.
