It lies south of the River Mersey about 8 miles southwest of Manchester city centre, 3 miles south-southwest of Sale and 10 miles east of Warrington. As of the 2001 UK census, it had a population of about 41,000.
  2. Altrincham was a county constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1885 to 1945. It elected one Member of Parliament by the first past the post system of election.
