Photo about Alvarado (city)
The Alvarado House, built in 1885.
The house was constructed on 10th Street in what is now downtown Del Mar. But in the 1980s, the land was bought and the house donated to the Del Mar Historical Society. The house rested for a time at City Hall and in 1986 was moved to the fairgrounds, where the society pays $1 a year in rent.
A plan is now taking shape to return it to the heart of Del Mar.
