"Fraidy Cat": On the radio, Tom listens to "The Witching Hour" that tells scary stories that almost give Tom a heart attack. After seeing Tom's reaction to the radio show, Jerry schemes a way to scare Tom. He moves everything in the house to make it seem like a ghost is in the house. Jerry does everything he can to give Tom a good spook. Tom gets so scared by all the strange things going on that he faints. Later, he finds out that Jerry was the one behind all this, so he chases him around the house. Accidentally, Tom attacks Mammy instead of Jerry, and she, once again, throws him out of the house.

- Fraidy Cat
Janis' barn cat came to her as an adult, very shy of people. She was born feral; somebody had kept her as a mouser for their barn, but when they were moving away they gave her to Janis. Janis says she didn't see the cat for three months after releasing her; thought she'd left forever, and got another kitten. Then Fraidy Cat showed up again --- still solitary, not wanting to be picked up, but since then willing to be seen and even to hang out on the house deck rail. Janis says she's 12 years old now, doing pretty well for a cat that's "lived rough" (by her own choice, at least since living with Janis, who'd gladly give Fraidy more comforts. But the cat panics even in the barn if somebody closes the door; she insists on access to the great outdoors).
