What does Ababil mean as a name of something?

The Ababil were a race of birds, mentioned in the Quran, that protected Mecca from the Yemeni army by dropping red clay bricks on the Yemen elephants as they approached. This was, according to the Quran, done in 571, the year that Muhammed was born. It was said to have come from the seventh sky and once its work was done it went back to heaven. The only description about these birds' appearance was that they had the world's largest wings and the most beautiful look ever to be seen in the world.
