ASDIC is a proprietary dual licensed software for traffic analysis in TCP/IP networks available both as freeware and commercial. It collects traffic information from different sources such as logs, firewalls and mirror ports in network switches, analysing the network traffic flows. Compared to a network intrusion detection system it do not concern about the contents of the traffic and only perform traffic analysis using session information typically found in a firewall log file. This information is processed and stored in a database over the normal network traffic baseline to compare with when new traffic occur causing a deviation.
