  1. Hida is the northernmost city in Gifu Prefecture, Japan. It received its name from the historical province of Hida Province, which was centered on the same area.
  2. Hida is the northern portion of Gifu Prefecture in the Chūbu region of Japan. The Hida region received its name because the area was formerly part of Hida Province, before the formation of prefectures in Japan. The borders of this region are not officially set, but it generally consists of the following four municipalities: Takayama, Hida, Gero and Shirakawa.


Hida is a limited express train service operated by Central Japan Railway Company along the Takayama Main Line in central Japan. The service runs from Nagoya Station via Gifu and Gero stations to Takayama in just over two hours.
