La Plata Station was built in 1945 by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad as a replacement for an 1887-built passenger and freight depot that was in deteriorating condition. Efforts to replace the station were stalled by a lack of construction material being used to defeat the Axis in World War II. The 1945 replacement was built in Art Deco style, and was restored between 1996 and 2001 by local preservationists, a model railroad club and a garden club.
  7. La Plata is a station of the Seville Metro on the line 1. It is located at the intersection of Los Gavilanes Av. and Virgen de la Saleta St., in the neighborhood of Parque Amate. La Plata is an underground station, located between Amate and Cocheras on the same line. It was opened on April 2, 2009.
