Miscellanea

  1. Latina is a genus of South American chalcid wasps in the family Eucharitidae. There are four known species of Latina with three known in Argentina and one from Venezuela. Like all members of the Euchratidae, Latina wasps are ant parasitoids: the wasp larvae burrow into ant hosts to complete development, killing the ant upon emergence. The genus was first named Laurella in 2002, but that name had already been given to a genus of bee flies 30 years prior, and so the name Latina was proposed as a replacement, in honor of Latin America where the species occur.
  2. Latina is a cataloged instance, musical recording, canonical version.
  3. Latina is the most common type northern Indian Sikhara, comprising a single curvilinear projection formed by superimposing horizontal slabs of stone. The two variant and more elaborate northern Indian towers; the Sekhari and the Bhumija towers are based on the Latina plan.
