  1. Pox a.k.a. The Polabian language is an extinct West Slavic language that was spoken by the Polabian Slavs in present-day North-Eastern Germany around the Elbe river, from which derives its name. It was spoken approximately until the mid-18th century, when it was superseded by Low German, in the areas of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, central Brandenburg and eastern Saxony-Anhalt, as well as in eastern parts of Lower Saxony and Schleswig-Holstein. In the south it bordered on the Sorbian languages area in Lusatia.
  2. Pox is a liquor commonly used for ceremonial purposes among the Mayans of Mexico and Central America. "Pox" is a liquor made of corn, sugar cane and wheat, very important in mayan culture for its ceremonial uses and is also known as aguardiente. Besides its religious significance it is also a somewhat popular alcoholic drink in the Chiapas region of Southern Mexico. The word "pox" in Tzotzil means "medicine, cane liquor, cure."
