- any of a class of diterpenoid drugs that inhibit cancer cell growth and division. Examples are Paclitaxel (taxol) and Docetaxel (taxotere).
Taxane: Taxanes are diterpenes produced by the plants of the genus Taxus, and are widely used as chemotherapy agents. Taxane agents include paclitaxel and docetaxel.
